The Spark That Lit the Flame
The PowerSport show buzzed with anticipation, a symphony of revving engines and eager voices. Vespa Zitas Scooter Club, our emblematic scooters gleaming under the bright lights, stood ready. But it wasn’t until the doors swung open, revealing a sea of faces, that the spark ignited—a spark that would set our hearts ablaze.
Our members, clad in Vespa Zitas gear, greeted visitors with contagious enthusiasm. Coolers brimmed with homemade delicacies: cheese, bread, and cured meats—each morsel a testament to our Italian heritage. As the aroma of aged Parmigiano Reggiano and prosciutto filled the air, laughter erupted. We weren’t just sharing food; we were sharing stories—the kind that bind souls together. We broke bread and formed friendships that I know will last a lifetime.
I found myself chatting with strangers, their eyes alight with curiosity. “Tell me about Vespa Zitas,” they’d say, leaning in as if to catch a secret. And so, I spun the tale—the origin of our club, the echoes of Italy, and the saintly presence of St. Zita. She, the patroness of bakers and maids, whispered inspiration into our rides, guiding us through the labyrinthine streets of Ottawa.
As the day unfolded, more enthusiasts joined our circle. A young couple, helmets in hand, confessed their love for scooters. “We’re from Ottawa,” they said, “and we want to ride with you.” Their eagerness mirrored mine—the thrill of forging connections, of weaving a tapestry of shared passion.
And so, Vespa Zitas rode into the season, hearts brimming with gratitude. Our scooters hummed, their engines echoing the pulse of a city awakening. The flame burned bright, fueled not just by gasoline but by camaraderie, laughter, and the promise of open roads.
In that moment, as the sun dipped below the horizon, I knew: this was more than a show—it was the ignition of a lifelong adventure. Ottawa, with its winding streets and hidden gems, awaited us. And Vespa Zitas? We were ready to ride, our wheels spinning stories into the wind.
